Organizational Management / Organizational Administration Degree Online

What is Organizational Management / Organizational Administration?

Like the name suggests, students who major in Organizational Management learn how to manage organizations. They study problem solving, communications, group behavior, data-based decision making, and ethics.

They also study basic business areas such as accounting, finance, economics, marketing, statistics, and human resources.

Organizational Management / Administration vs. Organizational Leadership vs. Business Administration:

There are many majors out there that teach students how to manage a group of people. But each of these majors goes about this task a bit differently. This can cause some confusion, and there are several majors out there that sound a lot alike. For example:

  • Organizational Leadership is very similar to Organizational Management but will focus less on business topics and more on the “human” side of management. They will take more psychology and communications courses.
  • Business Management / Business Administration is the old-fashioned (but still highly relevant) degree that teaches students how to run a company or business with the ultimate goal of generating a profit. This degree focuses more on the business courses and less on management courses.

With all of these similarities, it is important to look at a major’s specific coursework before signing up. Look for the courses and focuses you want. Also, if you know what career direction you want to pursue, ask others in that area for advice about which major will serve you best.
